Whether you’re an existing business or a brand new one, you only get one opportunity to make a first impression. When a new customer views your website you need to make sure their first impression is a good one. In this blog, we’ll look at some different ways to make your website as effective as possible.

Homepage
Your homepage is likely to be the first thing a new customer sees when they open your website, but what should your homepage look like? It is important that it clearly explains what your business does, who your customers are and how you can help them. You’ll need to make sure that your spelling, grammar and punctuation are correct and think about using easy-to-read text. Most people using websites read the content in what is called a “F Pattern”. This means that they scroll top to bottom, left to right, like the shape of the letter “F”. Laying your content out in this manner can make it easier for your customer to get a clear understanding of your business and the services you offer.
Call to Action
Make sure your customers know what to do once they’ve looked at your homepage. You can do this by creating a call to action. You might decide to add a button prompting a customer to sign up for your newsletter; or you may use “click here for more details”, you might have a “contact us” section where you take the customers details and contact them directly or you may decide to add links to the various pages on your website so customers can view your products and services. A call to action isn’t limited to just the homepage, you need to make sure you have these wherever relevant on your website.
Social Media Sharing
Have you got social media buttons on your website? Social media is a great way to get free advertising for your business. By adding “share” buttons to your website content, your customers can share your content and services with their friends and family which can help increase the number of visitors to your website.
